On August 28, 2014 Susan Beehler; owner of Suzy Shuze-n-Starz a Pride of Dakota company in Mandan ND; attended the sendoff for Miss North Dakota Jacky Arness in Fargo ND. Susan created 53 individual necklaces using each states quarter along with Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and Washington DC quarters so Jacky could give a little something from her home state to theirs. Jacky attended the North Dakota 125th Celebration on the Capitol grounds while visiting with local vendors she meet Suzy and picked out her favorite Starz necklace; the North Dakota bison quarter in an antique brass setting with a tiny feather, a tiny bison and a bead. "Starz" are naturally formed in the cottonwood tree; Suzy cuts them from her tree in Mandan; places them on a bead or finding to compliment different jewelry designs such as Jacky’s selection; the North Dakota bison quarter or with the tree of life. The jewelry is packaged with a little summary of the Native American story on how the star came to be in the cottonwood tree. Home Sweet Home of Minot provided 125th chocolate bars to go with the jewelry to each contestant. These sendoff gifts were made possible by a donation from the Bismarck Mandan Business and Professional Women’s (BPW), Suzy Starz, Minot Home Sweet Home and many of the attendees of the sendoff evening who purchased a necklace to give a necklace. http://mandan-news.com/local/gifts-for-miss-ameri...
